· Oracle Cluster Repository and Voting Disk
· RAC-specific parameters and the server parameter file (SPFILE)
· RAC memory and background processes
· RAC database structures including undo and redo threads
· RAC-specific dynamic performance views
We will also investigate some of the algorithms used to manage multiple instances including:
· inter-instance block communication (Global Cache Services)
· inter-instance lock communication (Global Enqueue Services)
· instance and node failover
Finally we will look at the issues affecting scalability in a RAC cluster and discuss ways to overcome them.

Managing Set-ups and Configurations in Oracle Financial Implementations using Integra Apps – a customer experience
Chris Lacey, Xansa & Xavier Coemelck, Applimation

A review of the challenges faced that lead to the decision to purchase and Implement Applimation “Integra Apps” and the issues faced in post-Implementation.

Xansa is in the process of Developing and Implementing a single Oracle Financials instance for one of its Telecommunications clients. This Instance will replace the multi-instances that exist outside of the UK at various Oracle release levels from 11.03 to 11.5.10. Although the end game is a single instance, during the Development phase there will still be a large number of instances in use at Development, Test, Pre-Production, Production and Master status.

This clearly requires a high degree of synchronisation across the various environments as well as the ability to identify changes and differences during both Development and Operational running.

This presentation will look at the challenges faced, the decisions taken, how we implemented Integra Apps and the issues we still face.

Besides its value during the design and implementation phases, Setup Reporter will allow on-going tracking of changes, automated documentation and reporting on setups, setup comparison across instances, the ability to analyse and resolve upgrade problems quickly and deliver a clear audit trail record for tighter controls.
